Soest-Marrakech with 200 kg of school materials on board!

Originally born by a group of French students back in 1998, the idea of organising an annual rally to Marrakech to aid in improving the learning conditions of Moroccan schoolchildren has since widely spread across Europe.

The rally is no race but rather a means of transport for literally tons of school materials. Among the 1,500 participants starting on February 13th are eight students from the in Soest.

The special highlight: All rally pilots will be driving a classic student car, a Renault 4!

The necessary funding for their cars, equipment and school materials was raised by the driver teams themselves. Sponsoring was made by local businesses, like Wöhler in Bad Wünnenberg: “We were quite excited to be asked by these committed students to help in sponsoring.” Dr. Katrin Wöhler from the Wöhler Holding Company explained and added: “Promoting educational opportunities for young people has always been important for us here locally, so why not do the same for children in Marrakech? Apart from that it also takes a lot of us back to our own good old Renault 4 days!”
