Wöhler supports sustainable well building project in Malawi

Over a number of years, it has become a tradition at Wöhler of donating to social institutions and projects in place of giving Christmas presents. “We like to provide help where it is needed most.” the managing director, Dipl.-Ing. Matthias Peveling explained.
Which institution or project should receive the donation is decided each year under careful consideration and with a focus on sustainability and transparency.

This year the choice fell in favour of the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters in the nearby town of Salzkotten, who work particularly closely together with the Madisi Parish in Malawi, where they have launched a well building project.
Due to severe and ongoing periods of drought, drinking water supply and general hygiene in this Southeast African state has become most dramatic.

This well building project is characterised by its sustainability. With the aim of providing long-term access to life-essential, clean water the communities are being sensitised to the sustainability of the project, for example regarding the care and maintenance of the wells.

A series of wells shall provide water to a number of communities in the Madisi Parish.
This goal can be accomplished with relatively low costs, making it even more important that the donations arrive directly where they are needed.
